My destination is encrypt

If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. This doesn’t apply to failing relationships, so stop trying and trying again when you already know it’s not going to work out.

I’m completely guilty of double, triple, quadruple thinking my decisions especially when it comes to relationships. After ending something I often wonder if I cut it off too abruptly, if I’m lonely now because I was meant to be with them, if maybe we could work if I just gave it a third chance.

And in my experience, the relationship had died, is still dead, and does not need to be revived.

Nostalgia brings up so many emotions, especially when you’re feeling lonely. It might seem like a good idea to send a text to your ex and see if you can still get that attention you need. But in most cases, it’s not a good idea.

Remember all  the reasons you broke up in the first place? The distance. The fighting. The cheating. The lying. The mistrust. Whatever it may have been – none of that has changed. All of the words exchanged can’t be forgotten and all of the pain that you went through will come back again when trying to rekindle an old flame.

Maybe you can give them a second chance, if all of the circumstances seem to be different this time. But a third chance is pushing it. A fourth chance is overdoing it. A fifth chance is just nonsense.

It’s not going to work, it’s never going to work. Stop trying to dredge up the past just to make yourself feel better. In the end, it will probably only make you feel worse.

Razorblade Tears
by
S.A. Cosby

⭐⭐⭐          Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

I know to be wary about books that get a lot of hype, but I fell for it this time. When I saw the critical acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, The Washington Post and many others, naming Razorblade Tears one of the best books of 2021, I wanted to read it.

In the beginning, I thought I was part of that cheering crowd, but I soon changed my mind. Here’s the premise of the book:

Ike Randolph and Buddy Lee Jenkins are two ex-cons whose gay sons, Isiah and Derek (married to each other) were gunned down outside a wine shop in Richmond, Virginia. When Buddy Lee suggests they combine forces to avenge their sons’ deaths, Ike agrees.a successful Black business owner, has kept a clean record in the fifteen years he’s been out of prison for manslaughter. And he’s kept his violent temper at bay. He needs to, especially now that he and his wife have custody of three-year-old, Arianna, Isiah and Derek’s daughter. Buddy Lee, who is white, is a career con man and an alcoholic, living in a dilapidated trailer. On top of their grief, they have many regrets about shunning their sons for their homosexuality. Now they have a chance to make things a little better.

They soon learn that Ike’s son, Isiah, a journalist, was about to expose a scandalous relationship between a woman named Tangerine and an unnamed powerful man she’d met. On the other side, this powerful person has hired a hit man and his violent gang to find Tangerine and kill her before the story gets out.

Over a period of several days, Ike and Buddy Lee chase the killers and the killers chase them. And there are many violent casualties along the way, described in graphic detail. Between the violence, they move towards friendship as they joke around and share their struggles about accepting their sons. Ike also sets Buddy Lee straight on a number of racial assumptions. I thought these were good ways to bring out the subtleties of racism, one of the better parts of the book.

I was interested in the premise, but honestly, the rest of the book just isn’t that good, with all kinds of weird metaphors and choppy sentences. Razorblade Tears is described as noir fiction, and as a reader you have to accept the violence as part of the genre, but I found the characters to be stereotypical and the fight scenes hard to follow. In addition, to say you must suspend all disbelief is a huge understatement.

In the end, I felt manipulated by the hype and in the heavy-handed message about race, gender, sexuality, and a host of other social issues. I felt this could have been a much better book if the author had focused more on the characters and had chosen one or two issues.

The Y life

In April 2020, museums around the world issued a challenge to recreate famous works of art at home and then share those results on social media. This, of course, became the #covidclassics challenge that swept the Internet and kept us all going during some of the darkest months of the pandemic.

That said, one person took the #covidclassics challenge very seriously… maybe too seriously?

Most definitely WAY too seriously!

Yes, that person is yours truly and the result is twenty-one months of #covidclassics. Of course, all things must come to an end and my mission of crafting hilarious parodies of classic works of art for your amusement (and education?) is now complete.

It takes a lot of outside-the-box problem solving to stage a well-known two-dimensional painting or photograph in one’s living and/or working space. You have to consider the lighting, the costumes, the makeup and hair and even the editing after the fact. I can say with 100% confidence that I am so glad I put in the work to make so many of these #covidclassics because if they made even one person smile or chuckle to themselves, then it was all worth it.

Because nostalgia is a powerful drug and we all need a little something extra this time of year, I am pleased to share with you this video of ALL the #covidclassics. Be sure to look closely as there are a few images that I never posted to the blog. Plus, I included all the pop culture parodies I created since April 2020 that I shared only to my personal social media.

My thanks go out to all those who “liked” and commented on my images over the past twenty-one months and to those who laughed along with me.

Special thanks go to my forever sidekick – Chipper the Regal Beagle – for her patience with me as she was included in quite a few #covidclassics… whether she liked it or not.

Of course, the unsung hero in this entire project is my incredible husband – Mike Lee – who never shied away from photographing his wife’s crazy scenarios and shenanigans. Plus, he made the video!

The #covidclassics challenge was a lot of work, a lot of fun and ultimately…

It was a challenge well met.https://www.youtube.com/sqolaman E?version=3&rel=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&fs=1&hl=en&autohide=2&wmode=transparent

Mysterious life

Hello fellow sqolaman! It’s time for another Hearthstone post! I hope you guys are ready for some awesome cards. Now, let’s have ourselves a friendly “Brawl”!

Mysterious Egg by Murghlinwall Type: Hunter Neutral Minion Appearance: A medium-sized turquoise egg with a large shiny crack going down its body. Mana Cost: 2 Attack: 0 Health: 2 Effect: Deathrattle: Hatch into a 3/3 copy of a random Beast in your deck.

This is a great card that can be used in a variety of Hunter Decks. The beast searching effect is quite strong, and you can possibly get a Legendary minion out for no cost at all. This can not only help you control the board early, but can also give you advantage in terms of set up. The effect is completely fair, as well, and this card could definitely see it being played in today’s meta.

Realm of the Stonemother by Myth Master Type: Shaman Epic Spell Tribe: Nature Appearance: A mountain crumbling with bright blue spires. Mana Cost: 5 Effect: Deal 5 damage to all enemies. Overload: (3).

This is an immensely potent spell for the Shaman class. The amount of board clear potential it has is truly incredible, but it’s also quite balanced. You get to deal 5 damage to everything your opponent controls, but you have 3 less mana the next turn. The heavy cost balances out everything, and this could be exceptional in an Overload Shaman deck. All in all, an absolutely amazing card.

The film of you life

The film of your life

As a film rolls of it’s reel so your own life unfolds scene by scene.from the cradle to the grave, you life runs it’s course.Have you ever thought about the spand of human life in regard to eternity? Although our life is made up of thousands details it represents only a tiny fraction of eternal life.

Too young…

The baby is to young to think about where he came from and where he is going to. At his age life is pure innocence, ply and fun. No worries border him. To him life is like a beautiful sunny spring day that make things grow and bloom. Everything has a touch of mystery and the charm of novelty about it.

Too carefree…

The boy in elementary school can hardly be expected to know where life comes from and where it leads. He is full of energy and wants to run and play,do sports and a lot of run.

Too sure…

The young man is too sure of himself and his abilities.to be bordered with thought about eternity. His dream is to have a motorbike or a car with a powerful engine.Nothing can happy to him .He Masters life easily and no obstacles can stop him. Why should he think of eternity at all?

Too happy…

A young married couple is much too happy to think of God and eternity. Many people passed on good wishes to them for happiness and prosperity, and now they are working towards that goal. In full sail, they have set course on the ocean of life. They think it will be early enough to consider eternity once they are older.

Too busy …

Man’s professional activities take Soo much of his time that he has no time left to think about God .He has Soo many obligations and Is kept busy all the time. In order to achieve success,he cannot afford to stand still or to postpone anything. As I’m , too busy with my internethttps://wordpress.cosqolaman.data.blog

Too many problems…

There too many problems that worries him now. Life didn’t turn out to be everything it had promised to be.

Many things ended up quite differently. If only he could start all over again,he would certainly tackle things in different way . He does not find the peace and leisure to concentrate on anything other than his problems. In his desire to be left alone, he will not face the important questions regarding his soul and his salvation.

Too old…

Suddenly he is too old to think clearly about deeper spiritual things. Mind and body alike have lost their agility, have become dull and tired. Yet the d man feels he really ought to do something about his eternal salvation…

Too late …

… but the great deceiver of mankind comes along and whispers into his ear ,”God is too good to condemn you after all your hard work. Anyway, you are too old now to begin a New life. It’s too late. You should have started when you were young. All you can do now is hope for the best and chance it ..,…”

You who have read this you must face this question ,”where are you going to spend you’re eternity?”.The Lord Jesus Christ want you to think seriously about it. You won’t have any excuse if you miss eternal life now . In the book of Ecclesiastes you can read this,”remember now your Creator ,in the days of your youth, before the evil days come or the years draw near when you say,”I do not enjoy them any more”(12.1)

To lost your fortune is bad . To lose your health is worse. But to lose your soul is a loos you can never make up for . An old proverb says, “Money lost, nothing lost. Time lost, much lost .soul lost, everything lost.” Why don’t get prepared right now to meet God ? Jesus Christ makes this possible. Whithou Him, there is neither salvation not grace, but only condemnation.

Yet the Lord does not want any one to be lost .He wants each one to of us to be concerned and receive eternal life.

Thank you for your time, any one who read my article shall be blessed.

How it starts and how it’s moving.

Adb

If you spend any amount of time on social media (especially in 2020/2021) you may have seen the meme “How it started vs. How it’s going.” Since I am still feeling out of it (my TBI is acting up), I didn’t really feel like writing a traditional blog. So instead I have decided to do my own version of this meme. It’s to make me laugh. To make youlaugh and just have some silly fun with photos and graphic design.

Before I get into the silliness I wanted to share with you some background of this meme. Basically you’re showing the passage of time in a funny way. And since 2020 and 2021 have been not the best of years it’s easy to start off with a prim and proper image and then show the dumpster fire of a year we’re having. This New York Times article explains it well and Know Your Meme does as well. And Bored Panda did a feature showing more uplifting versions.

Now that you’re read up on the meme, let me unleash the fun! Hold onto your wigs and keys (a radio show I used to listen to [before my TBI and hearing loss] always said that and it made me giggle)!

New Blog Feature: #TBIthursday Mini Essay: How is it REALLY?

This blog post with all my examples (even though silly) of how good it used to be versus now may give you the wrong idea of my current mental state. I really am doing just fine. I just really like to be silly and funny and often self-deprecating. I suppose this could be alarming to those who don’t understand or are familiar with my silly sense of humor. Trust me, it’s a good sign that I am displaying this part of my personality. A few days before I officially came out of my coma some co-workers were visiting me at the hospital. I motioned for one of them (an art director I had worked with for years and had a jokey relationship with) to come closer to me and then I flipped him off! Classy, I know. I wasn’t the swearing and flipping the bird type person before but I did it occasionally for comedic effect. And when word spread among my friends, family, and co-workers, that I had jokingly “flipped the bird” (Does that phrase translate cultures? Because in the United States it means raising your middle finger to someone as a visual version of swearing), they were hopeful that it was a sign of me coming out of my coma. And they were right. It was a sign I was on my way back to consciousness because I came out of my coma a few days later! I will say that 5 years later I still feel like I am “coming out of my coma” because each week or month or year I am discovering something new about my post-TBI self. However, one thing that has always been consistent for me (no matter the state of injury or recovery) is that I am very connected to my sense of humor. I love being silly and funny and connecting with people in that way. As long as I’m making jokes, I’m just fine!

Monthly Feature of the Week: Pop Culture: Meme Education

Since this post is all about a pop culture/internet term, I thought I would do a quick refresher on what a meme is for my readers who didn’t grow up with internet/computer and the culture and terminology that comes with it (aka my parents 😆). A meme, like “how it started” vs. “how it’s going,” is a thought (usually funny) that spreads from person to person via the internet. See below for a definition of meme.

“A meme is a concept or behavior that spreads from person to person. Examples of memes include beliefs, fashions, stories, and phrases. In previous generations, memes typically spread within local cultures or social groups. However, now that the Internet has created a global community, memes can span countries and cultures across the world. Memes that are propogated online are called “Internet memes.” –Definition from techterms.com

From PBS Kids Facebook a How it started vs. how it’s going featuring Arthur.

I recommend that you Google “How it started vs. How it’s going” meme and you will find some good ones (I recommend clicking the image tab to Google Image Search). You will find some good ones, including a nurse who used a nice professional picture for the “How it started” and a selfie of her in scrubs with marks on her face from the COVID-19 mask for the “How it’s going.”
